How Will the Session Work?
Each session will take either 30 or 60 minutes long, depending which service you have requested. In-person sessions usually take 60 minutes, while online sessions are 30 minutes. For both sessions, they include an additional 5 minutes to do an initial diagnostic check before the reiki session begins and another 5 minutes for a post-reiki treatment review.
In-Person sessions usually take place in the client's home or address provided. For the session, I provide brief prompts with regards to breathing and/or visualization to help you connect more to your body and the present moment. I then proceed with a series of static-hand positions placed in areas that correlate to the different chakras at various increments of time. I make minimal or no contact with the body, with the exception for a hand placement underneath the back of the head. However, as an option, I do provide additional somatic touch based on client preference to help better facilitate the process and bring more ease.
For online sessions, they are conducted through Zoom and the client will be required to find a quiet and isolated area where they will not be interrupted. After the initial diagnostic check, the client will have an option to keep their video on or turn it off as they proceed with the reiki session. A link to background music will be provided to the client in order to play on their end to help ease them into a more relaxed state. However, this is optional. Remote reiki sessions use a distance reiki technique that allows the practitioner to facilitate this healing process without physically being present with the client and follows the same protocols as if the session were in person.
What Can I Expect to Feel or Experience During My Reiki Session? Reiki is experienced differently for everyone and each session is never the same. Some clients experience waves of heat, coolness, or a tingling, itchiness in various parts of their body. Other clients feel movement of energy, sensations of extreme relaxation, they have an emotional release, end up falling asleep, and/or have a deeply spiritual experience that is "hard to describe". At times, clients have felt nothing at all.
It is important to emphasize that no single experience is more beneficial or effective in comparison to another session or another person's experience. It is simply an indication of how your body is responding to the session at that given time.
What Do I Wear And Do To Prepare For My Reiki Session?
It is recommended for you to wear comfortable loose clothing, be well hydrated (or have a glass of water at arm's length), eat a light meal prior to the session and do your best to have no expectations of what you will be experiencing, aside from feeling relaxed.
A designated quiet room where you will not be disturbed during your session is required. A weighted or warm blanket is recommended to help you feel more relaxed and at ease. You are welcome to light candles and/or use aromatherapy in the form of a diffuser or incense to help set the ambience.
I usually play reiki music in the background, so for online sessions a link will be sent to you for your session they day before, or 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment via email.
